Our Focus for 2010
This year Arts Rising is looking at how to support the full potential of an international theatre of compassion called Playback Theatre. See goals.
Although relatively few people know of Playback, there are performing companies
and practitioners
in 50 countries. It has been used to support a wide variety of communities, from people displaced by Katrina in New Orleans, inner city youth in Toronto, cancer survivors and people with HIV in Boston, to Hutus and Tutsis in Burundi coming together to heal from the deep wounds of civil war.
